Why AllFiberArts Moved to Albania

You may be wondering why AllFiberarts has moved to Albania? Here is why:

I started this AllFiberArts website in 2001 – after Miningco released a lot of its ‘Guides to Mining the Net’. They permitted us to take some of our content and publish it elsewhere. Therefore I found another server to host the content on. The server was hosted at Pair Networks located in Pittsburgh, PA. Over the years, I continued to add new content and the website grew.

The costs of running the website also continued to rise. Some of my website costs were offset by Google advertising. A few years ago the Google ads became excessive. Google advised all website owners to change their format to add additional breaks into each article. I often wrote articles that were 500-800 words in length. I was advised to change my format and to break up the pages into 200-300 words. And to add paragraph breaks every 2 or 3 sentences.
This created more space on the page for more ads. Often I noticed 10-15 ads on one page. My Google ad revenue did not increase. And in my opinion, the website looked terrible as it was bombarded with ads.
At that point, I removed Google Ads from my website completely and relied on small donations to allow me to keep the website going.

In October 2024 my website went off-line for a few days. I think there had been a power outage or something in the US. When my website was reactivated, a lot of the files were corrupted (about 70% I think). Given that I would have to rebuild it all again, I began to look for alternative webhosts. I was very fortunate to find a webserver hosted in Albania, that offered much more affordable web hosting. I checked about their security policies, etc, asking a colleague who specializes in Internet Security.

I have also visited Corfu many times and had often looked across the sea at Albania. I planned a short vacation to Albania and had a wonderful holiday there. Everyone I met was very kind, welcoming and tolerant to others. Albania also has a long history of textiles and crafts. I didn’t have time to visit all the wonderful and historic sites when I was there, but I am planning another trip there soon.

So – https://Allfiberarts.com and https://Allfiberarts.al website has now been relocated to the new server in Albania.

I have also added Google Translate to the website – with the option of translating the text to about 100 different languages.

I am also setting up my Paivatar Yarn shop on the Albanian Server. I have added a few products and am setting up the payment system to work with Paypal. I still have a few bugs to work out so please be patient.
