TABLET WEAVING: Pouch Strap
I often make Reindeer Leather pouches. The small pouches are tied with a narrow strap – often made of twisted Reindeer Leather. I thought I would make a Tablet Woven band instead. Here is the pattern that I designed.
Tablet Weaving Draft
To weave the strap I used 16/2 Organic Cotton Thread for both the warp and the weft for this band. This band is woven with 12 cards and 48 Warp Threads.
Inkle Loom
The warp for Tablet weaving is historically woven by being attached to a tree, a post, a door knob, the back of a chair. The other end that you weave from is tied around your waist. The tension on the warp is adjusted by leaning back to stretch the warp while you weave. I find this difficult for my back sometimes, so I like to tie the warp to an inkle loom instead.
I have created a YouTube video that demonstrates how I thread and warp the cards using the Inkle Loom.
